The Windham World Affairs Council & Haiti Orphanage Sponsorship Trust present
Liberty in a Soup
WWAC & HOST celebrate Haitian independence with a screening of a documentary entitled “Liberty in a Soup.” In this film we’ll learn about the revolution that won independence for Haiti in 1804, and then we’ll enjoy a meal of “Soup Joumou,” the soup that Haitians prepare every year when they celebrate their independence on New Year’s Day. It’s traditionally a mix of squash, potatoes and meat, but we will also offer a vegetarian version as well as bread, cheese and beverages.
Suggested contribution for the dinner is $10 per person. All proceeds will be utilized to support HOST’s mission to meet basic needs for food, education, medical care, and other essentials for the children living at Foyer Evangelique Orphanage in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti.
