WWAC & HOST celebrate Haitian independence with a screening of a documentary entitled “Liberty in a Soup.” In this film we’ll learn about the revolution that won independence for Haiti in 1804, and then we’ll enjoy a meal of “Soup Joumou,” the soup that Haitians prepare every year when they celebrate their independence on New Year’s Day. It’s traditionally a mix of squash, potatoes and meat, but we will also offer a vegetarian version as well as bread, cheese and beverages.
